King (in Foster)

***Adoption Fee WAIVED*** Great with other dogs, perfect for older children, and cat-friendly (actually cat-scared!) King recently spent 2 weeks in foster with a SAVE alumni dog. This is what they had to say about him: "In his 2 weeks in a foster home, King really had a chance to settle and learn what it's like to have a normal, comfy life in a house and just be a regular dog for once. When we met him in the shelter he seemed pretty wild with pent-up energy, but that subsided almost immediately once he got settled here. Seeing how he was when we met him at the shelter versus seeing him now and even how he greets new people is like night and day. He's so much calmer and gentler, and I've always felt like it's hard to truly judge a dog's personality at those initial meetings in the shelter. It was apparent he had never been in a house but he's a fast learner in terms of figuring out boundaries, routine and going to the bathroom outside. He feels safe in his crate and will go in there on his own to relax which has been great. He sleeps through the night in there as well and won't make a peep. He hasn't been destructive in the house at all but you do need to keep an eye on shoe and sock stealing :) King has loved playing with our dog most of every day and I think he would thrive in a home with another playful dog to help build his confidence (plus keep him stimulated as he's still young). He's a bit apprehensive meeting new people and is scared of loud noises like landscapers in the neighborhood, but being around another dog who reacts more positively has helped him not be as nervous. King LOVES toys of all kinds and will play tug with any dog or person interested. He's also very food motivated and gets amped for meal time. He would do better in a home with older kids as I can see him maybe being too much for little ones carrying toys or food around. He walks well on a leash but can also pull pretty hard if he spots a SQUIRREL! Overall he's a quiet, sweet boy. We're so impressed with how well he's done these last couple weeks considering he's never had a home life before. He's been more shy around new men but absolutely loves my husband now. It's actually been so cute watching him learn to snuggle with u.
